Week 10
Reading for Nov. 22:
Horowitz & Hill, Sec. 8.24-8.35 (review)Problems due Wed., Dec 1:
Hayes and Horowitz, pp. 375 - 393
Exercises 8.28 (p. 527); A.E. 13, (p. 559)
Lab Exercises:
14.4 Counters from FF's
14.5 a,b Switch bounce
14.6 Shift register (74HC175)
Note: Plan to keep circuits from 14.6 on for several lab periods, as you will reusing at least parts of the circuits (starting with Exercise 14.6, which is used in 15.7). You can use a separate breadboard - no power supply - if you find that convenient. These more complicated circuits will require more attention to neat layout: Wires cut to proper length, close to the board, color-coding, etc.15.1 8-bit Counter 74LS469 pp. 362-368
Caution! Be very careful inserting and particularly removing this chip, as the pins bend easily. After a few bends they will break off and we will not have enough counters for the following labs.15.2 16-bit Counter [actually we will do a 12-bit counter -- instructions in lab]
15.4 Displays (Take care to keep pins straight on these too! They are relatively expensive.)
