Physics 605: How Things Work I
Registration

Registration procedure for PHYS 605 "How Things Work I"

Call 434-982-5313 and pay by credit card. (Beth or Shirley in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies will assist you with registration) Deadline Oct 4, 2002.

The requirement for registration is that you are licensed to teach in secondary/middle/elementary schools. If so, you are eligible for the educator rate. Exceptions can be made. Please see below if you are required to pay the Masters program rate.

Please send an email to phys605@virginia.edu with your current email and the exact address where you want the videotapes to be sent. It is very important for me to get your exact address since sometimes mistakes due to translation over the phone are made. The tapes consist of 5 videotapes with 8 lectures/demonstration on each tape by Professor Louis Bloomfield totaling 40 lectures/demonstrations of his University of Virginia PHYS 105 fall class of 2001. Since the tapes are actually copies of live lectures, they have been edited for superfluous material such as discussion of student assignments, exams, and other administrative content that would be irrelevant to you, since you and I will be communicating assignments through WebAssign, which is a computer based delivery system for distance learning. A given lecture is about 43 to 50 minutes long. The tapes will be sent to you at your home or desired address. A fee of $25 has been incorporated into the course registration fee for materials such as the tapes. Therefore, you will be allowed to keep the videotapes.

You will need access to a computer terminal on a regular basis.

The total cost for registering "How Things Work I" is tuition plus technology fee ($10.00) plus materials fee ($25.00).
