Physics 609: Galileo and Einstein
Acceptance/Registration/Tuition

Acceptance

The requirement for accetance into the course is that you are licensed to teach in secondary/middle/elementary schools and you have a degree from a 4 year College. If so, you will also be eligible for the educator rate for tuition. Exceptions can be made to the above rule.

Registration

There are two ways to register.
Method 1
Call 434-982-5313 and register over the phone. You may also pay tuition by credit card (VISA, Master Card, Am. Ex) over the phone. Shirley Yowell in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies (SCPS) will assist you with registration over the phone.

Method II
You may also register online through SCPS at http://www.scps.virginia.edu/registration/itc/user/. Unless you have experience in registering in one of our programs, it is best to call the first time. More details about other physics distant learning courses and degree programs can be found at http://www.scps.virginia.edu.

Tuition
(As of Fall 2004)

For the latest tuition rates, call 434-982-5313.

The total cost for registering for a 3 credit distance learning course is tuition plus technology fee ($4 per credit) plus materials fee ($25.00).
The cost of tuition is determined from the following considerations:

  • Educator in-state residence rate $600
  • Masters program in-state residence rate $675
  • Educator out-of-state resident rate $900
  • Masters program out-of-state residence rate $1080
  • If you're planning to take the courses as professional development, certification, endorsement, and are not interested in a degree program at this time, then you may pay the educator rate depending on whether your an in-state or out-of-state resident.

If you're planning to apply for the Master of Arts in Physics Education program (MAPE) and have not yet taken two courses at UVa that will be applied towards the MAPE degree, then you can still pay the educators rate in the above table (In-state and out-of-state residents have different Educator's rates).

If you have already applied or are planning to apply for the Master of Arts in Physics Education program (MAPE) and have already taken two courses at UVa that will be applied towards the MAPE degree, then you must pay the Masters program rate in the above table (In-state and out-of-state residents have different Masters program rates).
