Week 12 Assignment: Creating a Personal Technology Inventory

Assignment 1: due April 17, 2006 before 5 am. Use the procedure in Brown 2001 to create an inventory (using Microsoft Excel) of the various instructional media that are currently available within your school/classroom. Click here to see format. (Note: this Excel file already has data as an example. You can copy the file and replace the data with your own.) List examples of ways in which you currently use the media listed in your inventory. If you do not use the item, simply enter "No" in the "Used?" column. Upload this Excel file into Open Portfolio as HW23.

Assignment 2: due April 17, 2006 before 5 am. Identify an instructional need that is not currently met (or could be improved) in your teaching. Identify whether this need/improvement arises from a lack of technology or lack of experience/ knowledge. Write this in a Word file of not less than 250 words and upload into Open Portfolio as HW24.

Assignment 3: due April 17, 2006 before 5 am. You will be assigned a previously submitted lesson plan from one of the other students in the class. We want you to evaluate this lesson plan and list the technology prescribed or implied. Suggest additional technology that will improve this lesson plan. How will this improve student learning? Discuss the time factor - is the time and effort required to utilize the technology worth the gain in student learning? Write this in a Word file of not less than 500 words and upload into Open Portfolio as HW25.
