Hubble Deep Field (HDF) picture of the farthest galaxies and accompanying description. Part of this picture is on page 20 of Hawking's IBHT.
Also, a more recent (1999) view from the southern sky HDF.
You can find these and related pictures at the HDF site and at the 1999 press releases list, which are part of the vast collection maintained on the web by the Space Telescope Science Institute (STSI).

Galileo and Einstein course in the UVa Physics Department. Of special interest for this class are lectures 10 (Life of Galileo) and 16 (Isaac Newton), and also 9 (Galileo and the Telescope) and 15 (Tycho Brahe and Johannes Kepler).

Portraits of Galileo by Leoni, Newton by Kneller, and young Einstein, mirrored from the Picture Gallery of Famous Physicists maintained by UFRJ, Rio de Janeiro.
Fine biographies of all three (and many others), are found in the Mc Tutor History of Math.
Major sites for Galileo are at Rice University and the Galileo Museum in Florence
A major Newton site is at Newtonia, but is currently unavailable.
There are many Einstein sites, the most comprehensive of which is Albert Einstein Online.
