Guidelines for Preparing to Graduate with the MAPE Degree

Graduation occurs between semesters. You may graduate in January, May, or August, depending on whether you complete your last course in the Fall, Spring, or Summer semester. It is very important that you follow the schedule below.

The deadline within the month for submitting graduation applications varies from year to year. The deadlines are listed on the Admissions & Academic Deadlines calendar at http://artsandsciences.virginia.edu/grad/calendar/.

• If you complete your last course in the Fall, then you should apply to graduate in January.
• If you complete your last course in the Spring, then you should apply to graduate in May.
• If you complete your last course in the Summer, then you should apply to graduate in August.

To graduate, you must submit the following forms:

• Application for Graduate Enrollment as a Non-Resident (registers you as a student in the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences for your conferred degree)
• Master's Degree Application Form
• Final Defense Form

These forms can be downloaded from http://artsandsciences.virginia.edu/grad/forms/. The application/fee submission deadline is listed on the forms for each semester.

After completing these forms, please mail them to the following address for the appropriate signatures and distribution

If you graduate in January or August, you may contact the Registrar's Office via its web site (http://www.virginia.edu/registrar/diploma.html) and request that your diploma be sent to you.
