Abstract:The cross-section for isolated core excitation of the Ca 4p_{1/2,3/2}nd J=1,3 series from the Ca 4snd ^{1}D_{2} states has been measured for n between 14 and 28. The series exhibit strong configuration interaction and rapid decay via autoionization. The energies, quantum defects, and autoionization rates for the observed resonances are presented.
