Welcome to the research page for George Hess's lab at the University of Virginia. Professor Hess is studying the adsorption of different gasses and gas alloys on graphite surfaces using infrared spectroscopy, with the help of Dr. Petros Thomas and Dan Velazquez. We are currently studying the physisorption of different mixtures of Tetrafluoromethane (CF4) and CF3Cl on graphite, over a temperature range of 30-120K. For more information about the current research and future projects please take a look around these webpages.
