Week 2: NOS in Lesson Plans and Science Standards

This week we will use the principles outlined by Abd-El-Halic, Bell & Lederman in their Nature of Science article to modify a lesson plan. We will also explore the incorporation of NOS in Science Standards.

• Review the article entitled "The Nature of Science and Instructional Practice: Making the Unnatural Natural" by Abd-El-Khalick, Bell and Lederman labeled "NOSPaper" on the CD-ROM.
• Download and view the following Power Point presentation:
  Perception and NOS Presentation
  The topic of the presentation is the effect of prior knowledge on our understanding of things we observe.
