Interdisciplinary
Materials Physics Program to Achieve Technological Goal
Discovering
Nonmagnetic Bulk Metallic-Glass Systems
Based on Iron: Atomistic Construction and Microstructural Design
A coordinated
program to discover bulk ferrous metallic glasses via the exploration
of novel compositions, synthesis of bulk materials, scientific underpinning
of glass formability using atomistic modeling, and determination
of three-dimensional atomistic structures. Devitrification study
will be carried out in bulk metallic glasses to achieve enhanced
mechanical properties. Our team will target breakthroughs in the
design of materials microstructures that exhibit superior properties.
