2011 BCVSPIN Advanced Study Institute in Particle Physics and Cosmology

Huê´, Vietnam, 25-30 July 2011

GENERAL INFORMATION

The 2011 BCVSPIN Advanced Study Institute in Particle Physics and Cosmology will be organized in Hue from 25 to 30 July 2011 by the University of Virginia and Bartol Research Institute, University of Delaware in cooperation with Hue University College of Education (HUCE), Hue, Vietnam and Institute of Physics (IOP), Hanoi, Vietnam.

BCVSPIN stands for Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and Nepal. It is a series of summer schools on high energy physics and cosmology inaugurated in 1989 in order to give young scientists in these countries- who often lack access to conferences, journals, and scientific exchange- the opportunity to keep abreast with the newest developments in high energy physics and cosmology.

At the dawn of the LHC era, the 2011 BCVSPIN Advanced Study Institute in Particle Physics and Cosmology will invite recognized experts to give lectures on Physics of the Standard Model and Beyond including Electroweak Symmetry breaking, Supersymmetry, Extra Dimensions,.., Theoretical and Analysis tools for the LHC, Key experiments at the LHC such as CMS, ATLAS, ALICE and LHCb, Phenomenology and Models of neutrino physics, Non-LHC experiments such as Nova, mu2e, and other particle physics facilities such as Jefferson Lab, the proposed Electron-Ion Collider. Complementarily to lectures on Particle Physics, experts in Astroparticle Physics/Cosmology will give lectures on topics such as Dark Matter, Dark Energy, Inflationary Cosmology and Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays. A special session for students attending the school will be organized where oral presentations of their research are given. Limited partial support for participants from the BCVSPIN countries will be available.

The organization of 2011 BCVSPIN is made in coordination with that of the
17th VSOP which will be held in the same place from 18 to 24 July 2011. The two schools share a common registration form and the deadline for registration for both schools is 04 April 2011 (Monday).
