The ChallengeThe new bulk iron-based metallic glasses must:
- exhibit non-ferromagnetic properties;
- contain minimal or zero chromium content;
- outperform current candidate Naval steels in mechanical properties; and,
- have corrosion-resistant properties comparable to current Naval steels.
The total ownership cost must be affordable.
